Kano State is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, in West Africa. It was created on May 27, 1967 from the then northern region. Jigawa State was carved out of Kano State in the state creation exercise of 1991. It’s capital is Kano. With a population of 9.4 million it is the most populous state of the 36 states of the federation.
Located in North-Western Nigeria, Kano State occupies 20,131 square kilometres and is bounded to the north west by Katsina State, north-east by Jigawa State to the north-east, and south by Bauchi and Kaduna States. It has 44 Local Governments as follows:

Airport Information

The Malam Aminu Kano International Airport provides connections to flights from other airports in Nigeria, particularly the hubs of Lagos and Abuja. There are several flights in and out of the city daily.

There are also direct flights by some international airlines such as Ethiopian airline, Sudan Air, Egypt Air, Saudi Air and others as follows:

Saudi Air:3  flights a week  – Monday, Wednesday, Saturday

Egypt air: 5 flights a week – all weekdays except Mondays, Fridays

Ethiopian Airline: 3 flights a week – Monday, Wednesday, Saturday

Badr Airline: 1 a week – Wednesday

Tarco: 1 a week – Thursday

Those who arrive Lagos and Abuja via British Airways, Emirate Airlines, Turkish Airline and others are assured of both morning and evening flights connections.

Visa Information

By the second quarter of 2018 Nigeria started implementing a  policy of granting visa to short stay visitors at the airport, on arrival into Nigeria. President Muhammad Buhari confirmed this in his address declaring open the International Press Institute (IPI) World Congress on 21st June 2018, at the State House, Aso Rock, Abuja.
